We are not here to be an aspirational brand; we'd like to hold the mirror to your beauty.

Our two main goals are to create products that give you a joyful way to express yourself and to provide you with designs that will last through many washes and wears.

At every opportunity, we involve our community in Seattle, WA USA to bring these garments to you, and can proudly say our tucking garment 'Lili' is made in the USA.

Community Values

Our main focus has been suicide prevention in the LGBTQ+ community. ‘LGBTQ+ people are not inherently prone to suicide risk because of their sexual orientation or gender identity but rather placed at higher risk because of how they are mistreated and stigmatized in society. LGBTQ+ young people are more than 4x as likely to attempt suicide than their peers’.* Our fundraising tshirt donates 40% of profits to programs which provide support for those in crises. Traditionally in Latin, it sounds like: floor-OO-ees-EH

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

It is a loaded and energetic word in Latin that deeply inspires us:

To flourish, bloom, blossom, or flower, as with the earth at the beginning of all things. As with wine when it froths in your glass; of your first beard when you're a teenager. To abound with or fill with. As with the sea with ships — vibrant cities of happy boys and girls. Blooming, as with the ripening of fruits. It describes the way that light from the sun comes over the horizon at dawn. And of persons, to be in one's most productive period of time, or in their perpetual youth.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS WORD?

We chose a Latin word to emphasize an idea that transcends modern time and place, reaching back to basic and primal human existence. This word felt particularly appropriate to describe our brand—when we are in our element, we bloom, flourish, and expand. We hope these garments give you the opportunity to enjoy the harmony of your body and soul as they were meant to be.

WHO ARE YOU?

My name is Margaret from Seattle, WA USA. Fashion began at an early age for me, learning sewing and knitting from my grandmother, my 'Yia Yia'. She taught me how to mend jean holes, and we created clothes for my Barbies out of fabric scraps. These creative and tactile experiences led me to study fashion design in college. After working in the industry for several years, I realized that being a part of a mission driven brand is vital to me... so I decided to create one ('What, like it's hard?' -Elle Woods). Floruisse is woman owned and operated, and my personal dream is to grow this collection with you.
